Module 2: Oil Pastels

Now that you have mastered the basics of drawing, it’s time to explore the versatile and vibrant medium of oil pastels. Bridging the gap between drawing and painting, they offer a perfect stepping stone in your artistic development.

Oil pastels were designed by Henri Sennelier, at the request of Picasso. The result was a more portable and practical version of traditional oil paint, which isn’t used in our classes due to its toxic smell and long drying time. The Oil Pastel is a wonderful alternative, which often becomes a firm favourite amongst our students due to its expressive and freeing nature.
